CHARLO CROSSLEY: “MUTUAL ADMIRATION SOCIETY”

August 14 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm $25 – $45

“Mutual Admiration Society” celebrates that rare phenomenon when two talents meet and have an instant chemistry that propels them to artistic collaboration. It is an even more rare occurrence when one is a 15-year-old newcomer and the other a renowned show business veteran. This is the story of Charlo Crossley and Ava Nicole Frances, a self-admitted odd couple with a distinct symmetry and harmony.

These timeless women will honor the past, present and future with a mixture of standards, jazz and pop, with plenty of laughs along the way. Along with the title track, Ava and Charlo will perform selections from “Hairspray” and some of the most legendary jazz and theater duets.

Charlo Crossley has toured with Bette Midler and Barry Manilow with a highly coveted trio of backup singers known as The Harlettes. Her music credits read like a who’s who of show business including Chaka Khan, Luther Vandross and Muddy Waters to name a few. She has appeared on the big screen in films including, ‘The Preacher’s Wife”, “Beaches”, “Sister Act (1&2)”, “When Harry Met Sally”, “Behind the Candelabra” and most recently, “20 Feet from Stardom”. Charlo, re-teaming with Ava, is currently filming a TV pilot, “Celebrity Music Kitchen”.

Ava Nicole Frances (aka/ Ava Vukic) is already a veteran cabaret performer with three autobiographical shows chronicling her adoption and life with two dads to enthusiastic audiences in SF, NY and LA. She has also celebrated the love of her favorite icons, Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli, with a cabaret show and CD dedicated to their artistry. Ava has appeared as an actress in two student films, “Pretty” and “Drifting” that were in competition at The Cannes Film Festival. Currently Ava is recording songs for a new musical mini-series.

She is honored to perform with Miss Crossley.
